To celebrate the United Nations International Poverty Day , on the 19th and 20th of October, the MUN Impact group focused on two main areas: 1. Spreading awareness of the issue 2. A food drive.

On October 19th and 20th, the MUN Impact group began the student-led ‘No Poverty, Yes Food!’ initiative to raise awareness about poverty and hunger that is greatly affecting many people in the community. In our school, we displayed informative billboards containing information about the causes and consequences of poverty and hunger, previous efforts to resolve the issue, and how these problems connect to our community: India.

At the same time, we asked students and members of our school to reflect on what they learned from our presentation on sticky notes and post it on the side of the billboards. We also asked them to wear an orange ribbon to show their support. We also displayed a United Nations video regarding poverty on all the televisions around campus to further encourage people to take meaningful actions.

Lastly, we placed donation boxes throughout

campus and collected non-perishable food items to donate to the Chennai Food Box. With the help of the entire school community, MUN Impact was able to collect a total of about 90 kg of non-perishable food items which was then given to abandon old age homes, IPD orthopedic centres, Sevalaya, Thakkar Bapa Riolyolaya and much more.
